Mike Colter is gearing up to reprise his role as Luke Cage in the final season of Daredevil: Born Again, but before that, he's heading back to CBS for a new legal drama. Colter, who previously starred in the network's supernatural series Evil from creators Michelle and Robert King, is reuniting with the duo for Cupertino, a fresh take on the legal thriller genre. The show premieres October 8, right after Elsbeth's fourth season, and we've got an exclusive first look at the second episode.
Underdogs in the Heart of Tech
Set in the titular Silicon Valley city, Cupertino follows Michael Price (Colter), a lawyer who's been unfairly ousted from a thriving tech startup, losing both his job and his stock options. He teams up with fellow attorney Olivia Siffre (Rachel Keller) to form a law firm that takes on the tech giants who think they're above the law. Their first case involves Vik Malhotra (Nik Dodani), a coder blamed for a drone accident during a flashy display. The duo also finds a potential financial backer in Natalia Boutella (Busy Philipps), the spurned ex-wife of a tech billionaire.
Exclusive Episode 2 Images
Our exclusive images from "Vik & Bo" show the scrappy beginnings of Price and Siffre's firm. One shot captures their makeshift office, with notes scrawled on the building's columns—a far cry from the sleek boardrooms of their adversaries. Another image shows them at Vik's apartment, helping him prepare for his day in court, while a third features Natalia meeting with the duo, her expression skeptical of their ability to take on the likes of Google or OpenAI.
Guest Stars and Familiar Faces
Episode 2 also introduces a potential whistleblower client, vetted by Michael's former assistant Christy Palladino (Ella Stiller). The episode welcomes Rob McClure and Evan Handler, both familiar to King fans. McClure has appeared in Elsbeth, Evil, and The Good Fight, while Handler, known for Sex and the City and Californication, also popped up in The Good Wife spin-off.
With its blend of legal drama and tech-world satire, Cupertino promises to be a compelling addition to CBS's lineup. For those who enjoyed the twists of The Lincoln Lawyer, this show offers a fresh take on courtroom battles.
