The cast of The Legend of Vox Machina gathered for an exclusive Q&A with Collider's Steve Weintraub, and they didn't hold back on details about the show's upcoming fifth and final season. With Season 4 now streaming on Prime Video, the Critical Role team—including Matthew Mercer, Sam Riegel, Taliesin Jaffe, Liam O'Brien, Ashley Johnson, Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham—shared plenty of laughs, Easter eggs, and a major update on what's next for the beloved animated series.

During the conversation, Riegel confirmed that production on Season 5 is well underway. "We are deep. We're balls deep," he joked. "Season 5, we're more than halfway done with it. It's real good." He added that while the season is shaping up to be amazing, fans will have to wait a bit longer. "It's going to take us a few more months to finish, and then, of course, there are months and months and months that go into translating it into all sorts of different languages and dubbing it into foreign stuff. So, it won't be out for quite some time."

Why 'Storm of the Century' Is the Stephen King Miniseries That Feels Like 'Twin Peaks'
Stephen King's 'Storm of the Century' miniseries blends small-town dread with supernatural menace, earning comparisons to 'Twin Peaks' for its slow-burn horror.

Mercer teased that Season 4 is just the beginning of the chaos. "But this season is real good. It's just getting started here," he said. Willingham chimed in with a playful warning: "And what he means by halfway done is that, depending on how people react to the last episode of Season 4, we might be like, 'Eh, scrap that whole thing and just start over again.' That's not true." O'Brien added, "Oh, you guys have just seen the tip of the Kraken. Just the tip."

The panel also dove into a fun "Get to Know Your Vox Machina Cast Member" segment, where each actor picked a number to answer a random question. Mercer chose 17 and was asked if he has a shortcut to get into character. "I have so many characters that if I did, it's long gone," he admitted. "Often, it's just driving to the session and figuring out what voice I land on when I park." Riegel, picking number one, shared a hilarious story about meeting John Candy as a child and asking for his autograph—only to be told the comedy legend "really needed to take a shit."

Beyond the Season 5 update, the cast teased plenty of what's to come in Season 4. The new season finds Vox Machina reuniting a year after the devastation of the Chroma Conclave, each member having embarked on their own personal journeys. Now, they're drawn back together by mysterious circumstances tied to a cult worshipping "The Whispered One." But one question lingers: where is Scanlan (Riegel)?

Fans can also look forward to hearing Trinket's true voice for the first time, a new dynamic between Vex and Keyleth, and plenty of Easter eggs—including hints at a Campaign 3 character. Johnson did her best to avoid spoilers, while the rest of the cast kept the energy high with off-the-wall giggles and even some "skexual" tension (O'Brien calling Willingham "daddy" prompted a "Happy Pride!" from the audience).
