What if the truth really is out there—and it wants you dead? That's the terrifying premise of The Outer Threat, a new sci-fi thriller starring Constance Wu and Mark O'Brien. The first trailer has landed, and it promises a tense, claustrophobic take on first contact that turns a rural family's life into a nightmare.
In the film, Daniel (O'Brien) and Michelle (Wu) are married astrophysicists living a quiet life in the countryside with their kids. Their world is upended when Daniel uncovers irrefutable proof of extraterrestrial life. Michelle urges caution—she wants to keep the discovery secret—but Daniel can't resist sharing it. Big mistake. Almost immediately, the family finds themselves under siege from a mysterious, powerful force. Are they being hunted by a government cover-up, or by the aliens themselves? Either way, a swarm of deadly drones cuts off their power, communications, and any hope of escape.
The trailer ratchets up the tension as Daniel, Michelle, and their children are chased to the ends of the Earth. The question becomes: can they survive the truth, or is some knowledge better left buried? You'll find out when The Outer Threat hits digital platforms and video on demand on July 10.
