The worlds of CIA and FBI are officially colliding in a major way. A new exclusive preview of CIA Episode 7, "Elimination Game," airing Monday, April 13, throws the button-up FBI and the unorthodox CIA into a joint operation that's already sparking serious friction, particularly between two key agents.
The episode centers on CIA officers Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) and his wildly unpredictable partner, Colin (Tom Ellis), providing security at a major international soccer match. When a bomb threat sends the event into chaos and two star players go missing, the duo's investigation quickly escalates, forcing them to call in seasoned reinforcements from the FBI: Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille (Alana De La Garza) and Special Agent Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym).
Maggie vs. Colin: A Clash of Styles
The newly released footage zeroes in on the immediate aftermath of one of Colin's signature risky moves, which he casually dismisses as a "hunch." This time, it's not just his by-the-book partner Bill who's frustrated. Maggie Bell, arriving on the scene, immediately lays into Colin, pointing out that his reckless behavior could have gotten Bill killed. The tension highlights the fundamental culture clash between the two agencies that CBS has been building toward since CIA launched.
Just as Maggie finishes her reprimand, an unexpected visitor adds another layer of complexity. An officer from South Korea's National Intelligence Service arrives, immediately recognizing Colin with the quip, "where there's chaos, there's Colin." The officer's history with Colin—linked to Colin's former partner—creates an awkward dynamic for Bill, who is still navigating his undercover mission to find a mole within the CIA and struggling to build trust with his chaotic new partner.
Bigger Than One Episode
This crossover is not an isolated event. It's part of a deliberate strategy to deeply interconnect the two series, expanding the FBI universe on CBS. The partnership began in March when CIA's Deputy Chief Nikki Reynard (Necar Zadegan) appeared on FBI to assist with an international case. With CIA already renewed for a second season, this collaboration is clearly a long-term plan to inject new energy and perspectives into the franchise.
In a recent interview, Missy Peregrym teased Maggie's perspective on the fraught partnership between Bill and Colin. "I just see the dynamic between them and I'm like, 'Ooh, this is a tough place to be when you can't really trust your partner,'" Peregrym said. She explained that Maggie sympathizes with Bill's difficult position, understanding the rules of the FBI world and seeing Colin as "off the rails a bit." Her role becomes one of supporting Bill as he tries to navigate an impossible situation.
The crossover promises high-stakes action as the team races to find the missing athletes before it's too late, with Isobel coordinating intelligence from the office and Maggie joining the fray on the ground. It's a mission designed to test the limits of protocol versus instinct.
