Chace Crawford has been a familiar face on screen for years, from his breakout role as Nate Archibald in Gossip Girl to his recent turn as the hilariously misguided The Deep in The Boys. With that superhero saga now wrapped after five seasons, the actor is setting his sights on a very different kind of drama—one that trades capes for cleats.

In a recent chat with Collider, Crawford opened up about his upcoming Hulu series, The Land, created by Dan Fogelman, the mastermind behind This Is Us and the current sci-fi hit Paradise. The show, which has already completed production on its first 10 episodes, is generating serious buzz for its unique blend of sports and family saga.

BritBox's six-part 'Hercule' series, starring Edward Bluemel as the iconic detective, has expanded its cast with Toby Stephens, Katherine Parkinson, and others.

A Football Drama with a Twist

Crawford didn't hold back when describing the tone of The Land. "It feels very much like Friday Night Lights meets Succession," he said, hinting at a series that balances the grit of small-town football with the high-stakes power plays of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. "It's a drama, in a very different ballpark than The Boys, clearly."

The actor, who plays the team's general manager, was effusive about the project's quality. "I've seen the first three episodes, and it's really good," he shared. "We wrapped in April, so I'm really excited about it."

A Stellar Cast and a Visionary Creator

Joining Crawford in this ambitious series are heavyweights like William H. Macy, Christopher Meloni, and Mandy Moore, all of whom Crawford praised as "fantastic." The combination of seasoned talent and Fogelman's distinctive storytelling has Crawford feeling confident about the show's potential.

Working with Fogelman was a highlight for the Texas native, who grew up a Cowboys fan. "He's the best," Crawford said. "I heard from my agents and friends who worked with him that I was going to love him, so it was not a surprise that I did. He's got a vision."

Crawford also revealed his admiration for Fogelman's writing style, which keeps audiences guessing. "His writing is so interesting... it's a football show, but it takes you in so many different directions, so you can never fully predict where it's going," he explained. "It's unpredictable, and it's got a lot of heart to it and characters that like to play in the grey area. It really makes you think and fall in love with these people."

For fans of Crawford's previous work, The Land promises to be a departure from the raunchy superhero antics of The Boys, but it's clear the actor is ready for the challenge. "I was just trying to make him happy and do the show justice," he said of his collaboration with Fogelman.

While an official release date for The Land hasn't been announced yet, the series is already shaping up to be one of Hulu's most anticipated offerings. In the meantime, you can catch Crawford in all five seasons of The Boys on Prime Video, and for more updates on his upcoming projects, stay tuned to Collider.
