The neo-Western craze ignited by Yellowstone continues to spawn compelling alternatives, and one of the most successful has been Blue Ridge: The Series. After its first season became a global top-five hit on Prime Video, the Appalachian crime drama is returning with an even more ambitious second season. Imagicomm Entertainment has announced that Blue Ridge Season 2 will premiere on INSP on Sunday, July 19, at 10 p.m. ET.

Starring Johnathon Schaech as Sheriff Justin Wise, the series follows a small-town lawman navigating a web of crime in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The show is based on the 2020 TV film of the same name, which also featured Schaech and Sarah Lancaster. The first season, which aired in late 2024, quickly became a fan favorite, drawing comparisons to Yellowstone and Longmire for its gritty, character-driven storytelling.

With help from his deputies and family, Sheriff Justin Wise fights to keep the community safe. Every case tests his grit, loyalty, and the limits of small-town peace. In Blue Ridge, justice is personal and earned, one fight, one mystery, one truth at a time."

Creator Gary Wheeler returns to write, showrun, direct, and produce the series. The guest cast for Season 2 is stacked with familiar faces, including A.J. Buckley, Bruce Boxleitner, Keith Carradine, Eric Close, Sean Patrick Flanery, Zachary Gordon, and Chelsea Green.

A Milestone for Johnathon Schaech

The Season 2 announcement coincides with the 30th anniversary of one of Schaech's most beloved films, That Thing You Do! The actor is also set to reunite with Tom Hanks on a new movie project, adding to the excitement surrounding his return to Blue Ridge.

While Yellowstone may have paved the way for the neo-Western revival, Blue Ridge has carved out its own niche by focusing on the unique culture and dangers of the Appalachian region. For fans looking for a fresh take on the genre, this series offers a compelling mix of crime, family drama, and stunning mountain scenery.
