"It was the questions that I had, as the actor and when I was playing Beth of, 'What kind of adult will she turn into?'" she said. "It was cool to get to explore that. I loved it."

Stepping back into Beth's shoes felt surprisingly natural for Kinney, despite the years that had passed. "I felt like a lot of it was still there pretty automatically," she shared. The character's signature style—braids, necklaces, and bracelets—helped her slip back into the role. "Tapping into that seemed pretty obvious," she added. "She loved music, and now she's doing music in New York City. It all made sense to me."
One of the highlights of the episode was Beth performing one of Kinney's own original songs in the bar scene. "It just seemed to fit so well," Kinney said, noting how the song added an authentic layer to Beth's story. The emotional weight of the reunion was felt by both actresses, especially during their first scene together at the fountain. Cohan had previously described the moment as moving, and Kinney echoed that sentiment, saying, "Filming those scenes was easy. It felt natural."
