While Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War continues to dominate Prime Video's movie charts this week, the streaming giant offers plenty of other gems for viewers seeking variety. From nostalgic classics to recent crowd-pleasers, here are three near-perfect films to stream on Prime Video starting June 8.
1. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
Directed by Stephen Herek, this sci-fi comedy follows two high school slackers, Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves), who travel through time to ace a history presentation. With a supporting cast including George Carlin, the film is a hilarious romp through different eras. Though initially a modest box office hit, it has since gained a cult following and launched two sequels: Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey and Bill & Ted Face the Music. It's a perfect time capsule of '80s culture and a must-watch for fans of Keanu Reeves' early work.
2. Wimbledon (2004)
This sports rom-com stars Paul Bettany as Peter Colt, a fading British tennis pro who finds his game—and his heart—revived after meeting rising American star Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst). Directed by Richard Loncraine, the film also features Sam Neill and Jon Favreau. While its plot is predictable, the chemistry between Bettany and Dunst makes it a charming, feel-good watch. Often overlooked among 2000s rom-coms, Wimbledon is a forgotten gem that deserves a second look.
3. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)
Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel brings back Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, now a paranormal talk show host, who returns to her childhood home after a family tragedy. When her daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) gets lost in the afterlife, Lydia must team up with the mischievous Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to save her. Catherine O'Hara reprises her role as Delia, with new additions Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe. While it doesn't surpass the original, the film dazzles with practical effects, sharp comedy, and Keaton's iconic performance. It's one of the most entertaining films of the last five years.
