Alan Ritchson is having a massive 2026, and it's not just because he's gearing up for Reacher Season 4 on Prime Video. The actor's Netflix sci-fi blockbuster War Machine has officially spawned a sequel, and we now have a title and a script update that's got fans buzzing.

Director Patrick Hughes, who also wrote the sequel, took to Instagram to share a photo of the official script for War Machines—yes, the title is now plural. The image shows the script cover, and while it doesn't reveal plot details outright, it strongly hints that Ritchson's character, part of the elite 81 unit, will face multiple war machines this time around. It's a clever nod to James Cameron's Aliens, which famously added an 's' to the title to indicate more threats.

The first War Machine was a surprise hit for Netflix, dropping straight to streaming in March and quickly climbing into the platform's all-time top 10, surpassing even Ryan Gosling's The Gray Man. That success made a sequel inevitable, and now it's officially greenlit and moving forward.

While details about the plot and cast are still under wraps, James Beaufort is returning as a co-writer. Given the film's popularity, fans are hoping production will ramp up quickly. In the meantime, Ritchson has plenty to keep him busy. He'll reprise his role as Jack Reacher in Reacher Season 4, which premieres August 12 on Prime Video, and he's also set to appear in the spin-off Neagley and Season 5 of the flagship show.
